IP Counsel (80-100%) - Geneva

To strengthen our Legal team, we are recruiting an IP Counsel based at our headquarters in Geneva. Reporting to the Head Legal & Compliance and acting as an intellectual property (IP) expert, your mission is to manage and protect OM Pharma’s IP portfolios.

Your main responsibilities are as follows:

• Lead and give advice on all IP-related matters, including without limitation patents, data exclusivity, life cycle management, parallel imports, trademarks, copyrights and domain names
• Elaborate and drive the IP strategy of OM Pharma
• Manage patent litigations and instructing external local counsel and/or assisting in patent litigation
• Contribute to the realization and management of an effective patent portfolio in a cost-effective manner, both with respect to pending applications and granted patents, to safeguard rights for inventions made in or for OM Pharma and to protect OM Pharma products by an appropriate patent portfolio (including any IP incentive rights)
• Ensure that OM Pharma products are marketed without infringing other parties’ patent rights.
• Coordinate/draft freedom-to-operate or patentability opinions both with respect to new OM Pharma products and in-licensing candidate products
• Manage and/or coordinate with external competent firms the OM Pharma trademark and domain name portfolio
• Be actively involved in due diligence activities, review and analyze license agreements and other contracts

To carry out this mission, we are looking for a person with the following profile:

• Qualified European Patent Attorney with an educational background in the field of Life Sciences 
• At least 3 years post-qualification experience as an in-house patent attorney in the pharmaceutical industry or patent attorney in private practice strongly exposed to life science projects
• Experience with strategic management of a global IP portfolio and global IP contentious matters (e.g. oppositions, appeals, litigations)
• Fluent in English (both written and spoken) with preferably good oral skills in French
• Proficiency in MS-Office tools
